HAVANA, Cuba, May 3 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla received on Thursday in Havana, the Minister of Foreign Business and Communities and Defense of the Republic of Cape Verde, Luis Felipe Lopez Tavares with the commitment of working together and enriching the traditional friendship and cooperation ties between both countries.
During the official talks, Rodriguez Parrilla highlighted the historic and profound relations that unites both nations, which was founded between the revolutionary leader Amilcar Cabral and Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.
He highlighted that Cuba was honored by the visit of President of Cape Verde Jorge Carlos de Almeida Foneca in 2015 and thanked the government and people of that African nation for the quality for the attention and hospitality received by the then Vice President of the Council of State Mercedes Lopez Acea in her visit to that country.
He added that this visit will reinforce bilateral ties which are currently excellent.
The Cuban Foreign Minister recognized the support of Cape Verde and the African Union in the fight to end the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the US government against Cuba.
He also affirmed that the African nation and Cuba share a number of objectives, positions and challenges in the international scenario.
Lopes Tavares, pointed out that his visit, first time in Havana, has the symbolic character of reinforcing the historic ties, solidarity and sisterhood with Cuba.
During the dialog, both parts signed a mechanism of bilateral consultation with the objective of promoting and strengthening relations in the future.
