We Have Made A Terrible Mistake In America 2025-03-28T09:56:57-06:00

If our government can snatch an innocent British tourist who is here on a “dream” backpacking vacation, if they can snatch a well-known Canadian actress, if they can pilfer through the cell phone of a French scientist visiting this country to attend a scientific conference, all without any regard for the Fourth Amendment or habeas corpus, you’d better believe they can do it to you too. | Photo Source: Flickr Creative Commons by Gary Todd, public domain

We have made a terrible mistake.

America, that rock of freedom, security and peace on which we all have stood every day of our lives, is shifting and shuddering like a volcano getting ready to blow.

We have made a terrible mistake.

In two months, we’ve seen the creation of an off-country concentration of camp in El Salvador. This is much like the concentration and slave labor camps such as the infamous Auschwitz that Nazi Germany created in Poland and elsewhere.

Our government has been snatching tourists from Britain and Canada off the streets, along with anyone with a brown skin. They’ve been going through people’s cell phones for “evidence” that they are “terrorists” such as comments criticizing Trump. They’re shipping the people to the concentration camp in El Salvador without a hearing, without access to an attorney, without proving anything, without even charging them with anything.

The term is “disappeared.” Totalitarian governments, from the Nazis to those in Africa, North Korea, and Central and South America, grab people off the streets and take them away. Their families may never know what happened to them.

Our former allies such as Britain, France and Canada have issued traveler advisories against visiting the United States, saying it’s too dangerous.

For the first time ever, United Nations delegates have been advised to carry their passports and IDs with them for fear of being hi-jacked by ICE. Do I need to say that this is reminiscent of Nazi Germany, North Korea and Communist Russia?

We have made a terrible mistake.

We’ve watched while the people we put in charge of our country, our safety, our freedoms, and ultimately, our lives, have behaved like a roving gang of looters, smashing our government and grabbing the goods for themselves with dictatorial actions that are illegal, unconstitutional, the very essence of tyranny.

We’ve listened while they threaten to put people in prison for criticizing them and create phony executive orders aimed at law firms and courts that seek to defend the Constitution and impose the rule of law on their actions. We’ve watched while they answer any question with a deluge of blatant lies and obvious slanders against anyone who disagrees with them.

We have witnessed their callous disregard for the basics of their own responsibilities, from ignoring the wildfires in North and South Carolina to joking about the victims of airline crashes, to a group of underlings engaging in an illegal chat in which they set in motion an act of war.

They conducted this online chat to “plan” the bombing of another country by talking trash and bragging and swaggering like a bunch of juiced-up teenagers playing a video game.

That “meeting” was a violation of our trust for many reasons. It was illegal at the outset because it was set up to be hidden and expunged from the public record, which is a violation of the law. It was illegal because it violated the safety rules that are designed to keep all of us safe.

It was upsetting because of the juvenile crudity of its participants and it was damning because of who did not participate.

The Joint Chiefs weren’t there. The military was not present in this military planning. And the president was not there.

While this bunch of frat boys and girls were talking trash on an unsecured channel as they sent our bombers out to kill people in an act of war against another country, the president was playing golf at Mar a Lago.

We have made a terrible mistake.

Then, when they got caught because they were so stupid they included the managing editor of The Atlantic in their “top secret,” illegal, war-planning meeting that did not include either the military or the golf-playing president, they responded with their usual vitriol and crass immorality.

They lied. And they lied. And they kept on lying.

And they slandered the editor they sloppily included in their illegal, sleazy war-planning “chat.”

Serious questions have been raised as to whether these vicious imbeciles were even sober when they sent America into an act of war.

We have made a terrible mistake.

Finally, they have decided to claim that, however, this “mission” was put together and however many laws it violated, including the members of our government flat-out lying under oath to Congress about what they did, the “mission” was a “success.”

None of our pilots or their crews were killed, despite the malfeasance of their superiors. And, yes, our bombs did knock down some buildings and kill people, including children, in that other country.

Of course, none of the American people even knew what the “mission” was.

All we know is that we have placed our country in the hands of a president who plays golf while a bunch of incompetent drunks and talking heads yuck it up and talk cheap trash while they send our pilots to war in an illegal and completely dangerous fashion for the Lord above only knows what reason.

We know they are liars.

We know that we can not believe anything they say.

We know they didn’t bother to have anyone from the military there to advise or weigh in on their genius plans. We know that, evidently, while this all happened, the president was playing golf.

We have made a terrible mistake.
