Newburn lifts Eagles in South Carolina
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Parker Newburn’s RBI single in the sixth gave United’s baseball team a 5-4 win over Wellston (Ohio) on Friday.
Newburn also threw a complete game one-hitter as he struck out six and walked six.
Cavan Jackson had two doubles and two RBIs for the Eagles, while Kadin Schonauer had two hits.
United (1-1) plays the North Varsity Rangers and West Greene today in Myrtle Beach.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Flint Hill of Virginia scored an 11-0 win in five innings over United on Friday in the Golden Eagles opener.
Flint Hill used three pitchers to get the no-hitter as they combined for nine strikeouts and three walks.
Carter Simmons took the loss for the Eagles with three strikeouts and five walks in four innings.

Columbiana 27, Wellsville 0
COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s baseball team opened the season with a 27-0 win over Wellsville in five innings on Friday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.
Max Conway had a home run and four RBIs for the Clippers. Sam Inboden had three hits including two doubles and seven RBIs. Dan Goehring had a double. Blake Unger added a double and two RBIs.
Inboden got the win with four strikeouts and no walks in three innings.
Landon Ramsey had a hit for Wellsville. He was also the losing pitcher as he gave up 12 runs on one hit and six walks in 2/3 of an inning.
Columbiana hosts East Palestine on Monday.

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown East stopped Leetonia 12-2 in five innings on Friday.
C.J. Faulkner, Ryan Bulford and Evan Rosko had hits for the Bears.
Bulford took the loss with seven strikeouts and four walks in four innings.
